Biodiversity & Nature
Improving our environment
Did you know that Hadstock has a huge potential in Biodiversity?
- A rare chalk meadow nature reserve with over 120 wildflower species
- 80 acres of woodland including the ancient Hadstock Wood
- Over 15 miles of natural hedges – vital as wildlife habitats and corridors
- One hundred acres of gardens and one thousand acres of farmland!
Our plan is to identify where we can make practical improvements in the biodiversity & nature across the Parish – including our gardens.
We are producing our first ever Local Nature Plan including a map of our current habitats (grassland, woods, hedges, ponds, gardens) and to survey our wildflowers, birds and butterflies. This is being created with volunteers from across the Village and the Uttlesford Volunteer Group of the Essex Wildlife Trust.
Did you know that Hadstock has a volunteer Green Team that tackles our pathways, ponds and hedges?
Why not join in by contacting one of the Team.
