St. Botolph’s has assessed all the steps needed to enable services to take place in a COVID-secure way. A risk assessment and guidance document on attendance are available by following the links.     The Saffron Walden and Villages Team Ministry is continuing to ensure that there is a wide range of ways in which people can access worship across the 12 churches of the Team. These include services in church; on-line Zoom or YouTube services, a weekly service sheet and Grapevine (giving Bible readings).

You can find these on the Church and Online Services page of the website of St Mary’s Saffron Walden   www.stmaryssaffronwalden.org

 Hadstock PCC, 2021

St Botolph’s is the parish church in the village of Hadstock in north west Essex. We seek to be a living church at the heart of this village community, sharing God’s love and gaining closer to Christ in worship and providing a place where all may find space and solace. See PCC Millennium vision here.

Ours is a historic church where the Christian faith has been celebrated for over 1000 years. Indeed in 2020 we are celebrating 1000 years since the Danish King Cnut [Canute] founded a church on the site of the Battle of Assandun, where he defeated the Saxon forces in 1016, in memory of the souls who had died in the conflict  – which many scholars consider is Hadstock Church. See details of our programme on the Millennium page.

We are one of the 12 churches within the Saffron Walden and Villages Team Ministry, within the Diocese of Chelmsford.   https://www.stmaryssaffronwalden.org/Groups/313043/About_Us.aspx

We hope that on this website you will find something of interest to encourage you to visit us in person. In normal circumstances the church is open most days between 10 am and 4 pm, welcoming villagers and visitors to a quiet space for prayer and meditation or to enjoy its historic calm and beauty.

May God be with you on your journey.

Volunteers help the PCC to run the church, keep it clean, provide and arrange flowers, take part in services, play the organ, bell ringing, look after the grounds, and much more. The  Friends of St Botolph’s also support the Church building.

The PCC has adopted the Church of England’s policies and best practice on safeguarding. For more information and for details of our Parish Safeguarding Representative, please see the Safeguarding page
