About

The Hadstock Society is responsible for the archive content which was set up in 2021 with the help of significant grants from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Church of England Diocese of Chelmsford. The grants were given to support Millennium celebrations related to the founding of St Botolph’s Church in Hadstock in 1020AD. The digital outputs arising from many of the Millennium projects are included in this archive.

The archive contains a range of material including copies of historic documents, contemporary articles, photographs, video and audio files of the parish and its residents and other records. There is a free form search tool at the top of the page which you are encouraged to use to look for specific material, including people’s names. Comments on the contents are welcome and will form a contribution to the archive. Each item within the archive has a place for reader input.  The Society is keen to expand the content of the archive, so if you have information or material which you would like to discuss with us, please select the ‘Contribute to Archive’ menu item.

If you are interested in the history of the Parish, your house, our church, our former school, the landscape, archaeological studies, and the life of present and former residents, why not join the Society? Further information about the Hadstock Society can be found on the home page of the main Hadstock website.
